About Your Pet’s Prescriptions

Tidewater Veterinary Hospital believes in being honest with you about changes that affect your pet’s care. We want to share some challenges we’ve encountered, and what we’re doing to address them.

What’s Happening

Some outside pharmacies now require extensive additional paperwork and authorizations to fill prescriptions from veterinary offices. What once took a quick phone call now sometimes requires hours of our veterinarians’ time—time we’d rather spend caring for your animals.

Because of the added time involved in processing prescriptions through outside pharmacies, we now charge a service fee for written prescriptions that are taken to outside pharmacies. When requesting a written prescription, we ask that you allow 24-48 hours (or one to two working days) for us to prepare it for you.

  • Order Through Our Online Pharmacy
  • Pick Up In-House with Optional Curbside Convenience
    • The fastest option: Call ahead with prepayment, and we’ll bring your pet’s medications right to your car. Or if you prefer not to pay in advance, you’re always welcome to come to the front desk for payment and pick up.
